Biography/Professional
Profile
Mr. Deem joined The Foundry in late 1998 and is currently The Foundry’s
Chief Technology Officer. In addition to spearheading the research
and invention process on new clinical opportunities, he leads the
development effort in The Foundry's new companies, serving as Vice
President of Research and Development until that role is filled
by an employee of the new company.
Prior
to joining The Foundry, Mr. Deem served in a founding role as consulting
Director of Research and Development for Ventrica, Inc., a business
focused on cardiovascular revascularization.
From
1996 to 1998, Mr. Deem was a senior member of the Research &
Development team at Medtronic Micro Interventional Systems. He joined
MIS in 1994 as one of the initial members of the company's engineering
team, and was then promoted to Director of R & D following the
Medtronic acquisition. His responsibilities included managing the
development of catheters, guide wires and implantable embolic systems
for interventional neuroradiology applications.
Previously, Mr. Deem held engineering positions with Devices for
Vascular Engineering (1991–1994), Cordis Corporation (1990–1991)
and the USCI Division of C.R. Bard (1988–1990), where he designed
and developed catheters and sheaths for various applications in
the cardiovascular field.
Mr.
Deem is a co-inventor on over 20 issued U.S. patents and more than
50 pending U.S. patents. He has spent twenty years in the design,
testing and manufacture of endovascular devices. His experience
includes quality assurance and manufacturing engineering as well
as his primary focus of product development. He earned his B.S.
degree in biomedical engineering from Boston University. Mr. Deem
serves as a Director for Cabochon Aesthetics.
